Strum'n

This Past week end I was at the Llano Estacado Winery at the Wine and Clay Festival.  This is the piece I worked on while there. I nearly finished it!  I added some music and the strings when I got home.
It was fun and I met a lot of nice people, and actually knew several that came through! I sold 4 of my collages.

New Interior

I took a photo of this old car at the Fort Worth Stockyards, that had evidently been re-done. The red and white caught my eye after seeing the car, s naturally, I had to get some photos of it! I loved the red and white stripes.
It is 14x18 unframed, and is watercolor with a little white gouache.

Fruit Cocktail

I am getting ready to go to Tyler to teach a 2 day workshop, and this is what I think I will demo.
I wanted to try to figure out how to get the glass 'look'.
We don't drink, so I had to make this a fruit drink.

I did these sketches the other night watching television. From photos I have taken of little figurines, etc.

Sketch-booking is one of my absolute favorites! I just think there is a freshness and fun to sketch books. I have several that I have done over the years. One of my goals is to get back to using my sketch book everyday, instead of just when I think about it. When Watercolor Magic had a magazine called 'Sketchbook' I had some included in one of their issues! A few years back I got to go to Ruidoso, NM and do a sketchbook workshop with Don Getz, and we worked from life, and it was one of my most memorable times I have ever had! Don is the ultimate sketchbook/journal artist that I have met.

I really prefer to use watercolors on them when I get them drawn. Because I don't have enough self confidence, I use a pencil first, then a permanent marker, then paint. Sometimes I add the black marker when I am thru.
Everywhere I go, I take photos of chefs, statues, etc. I love the little chefs, and have several in my kitchen. Along with the big one that is a collage.

Christmas Memories

I found this old car in Lubbock, TX, and thought it would make a nice card.
This painting was poured, using red, blue and yellow. I used miskit on the tree limbs, and top of car and part of the snow on the ground. It was done a few years ago, but I always have fun dragging out some of my favorites. This is what it looked like here during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We don't normally have a white Christmas and it was beautiful.

Last Day of School

The last day of school before Christmas is so exciting to the kids! And teachers, and bus drivers.
The snow kids are getting on the bus with their gifts for their teachers, and friends.

First Snow!

After months and months of no moisture we got a good snow! As farmers we are always so excited for any kind of rain, sleet, snow...whatever God wants to send us! So...Thank you God for the moisture for our land!
This was painted last year. All our tractors are 'green and yellow!'
