Drawing with a Brush

This is my quick 3 step study to use in a workshop.  The study is 11x15 and become my reference when teaching.  Sometime the study is better than the finished half sheet.

Christmas Memories

I found this old car in Lubbock, TX, and thought it would make a nice card.
This painting was poured, using red, blue and yellow. I used miskit on the tree limbs, and top of car and part of the snow on the ground. It was done a few years ago, but I always have fun dragging out some of my favorites. This is what it looked like here during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We don't normally have a white Christmas and it was beautiful.

Choir Program

This was done several years ago, but I decided to add it in honor of our choir!
They came out and sang Christmas carols tonight, since I haven't been able to go
to Church or choir practice! We enjoyed it so much!

The Hair Dresser

This painting was done for my hair dresser. I just love painting these silly little
snow people. Is such fun.

Coming Home

This painting was sold a while back. I love old vehicles, Christmas, Snow,Red, and Christmas trees so I just put them all together. It was a fun painting to do!

Passion for Poppies

8x18 watercolor on gessoed Crescent rag matboard, drawn yesterday and painted today in about 2 hours.  After doing so many Christmas themed works, just had to jump back into the world of flowers.  These poppies I photographed last year while in Wales, UK.  My background is imaginary.

Drawing on wet gesso

This image is 11x15 on arches watercolor paper painted with transparent watercolor or whatever was on my palette at the time. The original painting had pure clean color and was a floral, my least favorite subject......the subject didn't appeal to me so brushed gesso over the entire painting and while gesso was still wet drew another subject by scrapping out the image of the church and figures....just as I do when using a pencil. The original color was exposed to create unusual color patterns. After this first application was dry I proceeded to put in light and dark shadows to enhance the subject. Enjoyed this experiment and have used this technique several times....sometime it works, sometime it doesn't...but always learning.

First Snow!

After months and months of no moisture we got a good snow! As farmers we are always so excited for any kind of rain, sleet, snow...whatever God wants to send us! So...Thank you God for the moisture for our land!
This was painted last year. All our tractors are 'green and yellow!'
