At Southwestern Watercolor Society in Dallas Last Night

All smiles last evening when Suz got her SWS signature pin awarded by Naomi Brotherton...we are SOOOOOO proud of you Ms. Powell! Naomi had a lovely night scene included in the show and can still paint circles around everyone else in her 90s.  The event was held at PFamily Arts in Plano.  I received an award for "Moovie Stars" by Artisan Studio Gallery of $100 and $80 worth of merchandise by Jack Richeson (Quiller paints, and Winsor Newton sable brushes).

Painting once Scrubbed...

The horizontal landscape painting was scrubbed out then when dry a vertical drawing of an active cityscape was painted. The light values remaining from the laundry job had to be saved with dark mid values. The darker side of the palette was the main course with a few opaques used for the finish...scrubbed paintings tend to drink darks so it is important for the painting to be dry before adding the dark small pieces and calligraphy marks...
