Mums for Sale

15x22 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper from a photo I took a few years ago in Home Depot's parking lot by their greenhouses. It was October and the beginning of cooler weather and the perfect time to plant chrysanthemums.  This was done yesterday wet in wet and today spent a short while softening edges.

Midland Art Show & Demo

 'Lets Dance!'

I am honored that this torn paper piece was accepted into theMidland Art Association/Midland College 34th Annual Fall Juried Art Show. The show will be open from October 14 through November 11 at the McCormick Gallery, Allison Fine Arts Building in Midland.

When my sister and I drove up to the palette club in Midland, I was so excited to see the sign! So of course we had to photo it! The demo was fun. There was about 45 people there, which was a little unnerving! I worked on a cowboy. Big black hat, scarf, etc.  I am doing a workshop there in March, and they said it was filled!

Turquoise Mines

This was my challenge today....Gesso was applied thick, scraped with several tools to make patterns...on watercolor canvas. An acrylic gray wash was applied over entire 16x20 canvas. When dry I began making shapes with red, turquoise, and yellow acrylics...finishing with black calligraphy lines...had nothing in mind at the beginning the shapes I made with the turquoise looked like the nuggets in my bracelet....
