Finished Floral - Morning Shadows in watercolor

Here is the watercolor floral from abstract acrylic background, titled "Morning Shadows", 22x15 from my photo of blue and white variegated morning glories.

Acrylic Abstract Underpainting

Using leftover acrylics and adding water, these golden yellows and bright blues were splashed upon wet watercolor paper.  Stay tuned for the end result...

Retro Rooster collage

10 x 14.75 mixed media (watercolor, acrylics, newspaper, napkins, catalog pages, ink) I composed over a failed geranium watercolor. The rooster head and neck were from a former failed barnyard painting with him and 2 hens that did not quite work. The hens I cut out also and adhered to an old shack scene called "Chicken Ranch", that some may remember. His purple legs just kill me; feathers in front are from newspaper photos of old wood. It is a conglomeration of elements with a whole lot of country style and was fun to make.

Temptation - a daily painting

15x11 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper, done today, which is National Ice Cream day, declared by President Ronald Reagan (we miss you, Ronnie!).  I hope you all like chocolate, banana nut, strawberry/peach, and whipped cream with a cherry on top.

Decadent

11 x 6.25 watercolor on Italia 140 lb cold press paper of a chocolate cupcakes trio lined up to make the viewer's mouth water. This is my daily painting for today, done while waiting on paint to dry on kid's furniture. One basic recipe, one yummy dessert selection so decadent and delicious, too much fun to eat after painting.  No, I didn't eat all 3 of them.

American Saddlebred - a daily painting

10.5x9 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper, American Journey paints. It was 10.5x15, about 1/4 sheet and I decided to crop off the right side as I'd blurred the rider and it didn't add anything to the composition...30 minutes to draw, 1.5 hours to paint. I used a black & white copy of the photo so color isn't too accurate but think it reads a sorrel anyway. Thanks Jean for the ref photo we used for the current Weekend Drawing Event in the All Media Art Event forum on WetCanvas!

Original BEFORE version of Got Milk?

Here's the original painting 22x15 half sheet in all its horrible glory.  I took an ordinary photo of 3 cats then added arbitrary shapes of pure color with some intertwining on top of cat shapes  Just too awful! So I cropped 5 inches off its bottom half then added white latex acrylic in an attempt to soften them a bit.  I did sell this one after framing it in wide silver wood molding and double matting it in black and gray.

Sinful - a daily painting

11 x 8.5 watercolor on Italia 140 lb cold press paper, American Journey/Daniel Smith paints done today...so full of calories and sugar it just must be sinful to eat something so beautiful yet tempting! Says summer to me!!  I do paint daily just not always finishing a work ready to put out into the public for view.  I published it to my blog first which will feed into Daily Painters site.  I hope this makes everyone's mouth water and eyes, too, if you're crying over not having a hot fudge sundae!

Got Milk? Recycled Watercolor

17 x 15 dilute latex acrylic over existing watercolor of 3 cats that just did not work! I cropped 5 inches off the top, totally wet it front and back, then very wetly applied Benjamin Moore white latex acrylic with my fingers over the whole image.  When dry I enhanced the areas behind lighter colored cats to push them forward and vice versa for the black kitty.  Wax crayon was used to draw the original line drawing.  I will post the original watercolor for comparison BEFORE and after versions so you can see.  So stay tuned!!!
